There are now 20 homes at Dere Bay with many more on the drawing board. The adjacent property on the southern boundary called "Tulani Estate" has been acquired and several; units have been developed to provide low cost accommodation for lot owners whilst they are building. Gardens and landscaping are being undertaken with the aim of creating a self sufficient community.

Recently Endemol Production Company of Hollywood California has filmed a series of "Under One Roof" at Dere Bay where 100 crew were in attendence during August / September / October last year. The basic concept is that 5 families each with teenage children, will come to paradise and have lots of interaction with the people of Koro. The winning family will receive a luxury beach front home at Dere Bay. The result will be 7 one hour series with anticipated viewing audience of 10 million. ( Please refer to website: www.upn.com ). It will be shown on U.P.N every Friday night at 9:00pm as from 2nd July.

Most people who visit Dere Bay pick up the feeling that is a "Special Place" and certainly the local Fijians have a legend that the area will one day be "settled by people from all over the world."

The resort offers many man-made additions for recreation, while the prime location and enclosed reef area lend themselves to snorkelling, windsurfing, kayaking and great scuba diving.
